Really enjoyed Bill Frisell’s take on “Strawberry Fields” at today’s Tiny Desk Concert.

My old friend Katie Herzig has a new album out today, and it sounds amazing. Highly recommended.
We tend to forget that there’s music going on in the future and in the past and that what we’re doing is very minute.Justin Vernon, a.k.a. Bon Iver
I will never get sick of watching this.
So, maybe just take a minute and revel in the pure bleaching juggernaut that is my suburban male whiteness.
You’re welcome.
It is striking to see up close that Becker and Fagen make music the same way that Steve Jobs makes computers. The obsession with minute details. The unforgiving dismissal of inferior solutions.
We love this in men building our computers.
We hate this in men creating our music.
Why is that, exactly?
I know the analogy will chafe many who revere Apple products but feel that Steely Dan’s music is a sterile brand of creativity to be reviled.
Think about it.
Download: Bon Iver, recorded live in concert on August 2 at the 9:30 Club.
I’m listening through this today and I have no idea why you aren’t too.
If you’re good, and you know you’re good, and you know you’re better than those people getting paid to do it, you still have to have an open ear. Nobody’s music is the enemy of your music. The idea that someone else has made it when they shouldn’t have made it is toxic thinking.John Mayer
Radiohead performs “The King of Limbs” in its entirety.

Toto fan or not (I am), I think most familiar with the song will find this endlessly entertaining.
At the airport the young man heard far-off drums echoing in the night. He imagined the young woman in the plane sitting still, hearing whispers of a quiet conversation near the rear of the fuselage. He glanced down at his father’s wristwatch—12:30. The flight was on time.

Some ferocious Mike Landau blues seemed appropriate for this cloudy April morning in the San Fernando Valley.
I did not make nearly enough pilgrimages to the Baked Potato while I was within driving distance of North Hollywood over the last two years.
Incidentally, Mike will be at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York on Thursday. You should go if you, you know… live in New York.
I had the tremendous privilege of seeing Stryper perform tonight at Santa Fe Station. Many thanks to Rob for inviting me to tag along!
